Human hair tends to grow in a cycle. The hair will grow, then with time it will tend to fall out. This cycle is repeated yearly. When you shed 50 to 100 hairs, it is quite normal. Each time a hair particle is shed, it gets replaced by another hair. It’s quite normal to shed hair due to this cycle but for some women it happens at an excessive rate causing hair loss.

There are many causes of hair loss in females. Among the most common type of hair loss in women is known as androgenetic alopecia or female pattern baldness. It takes place when hair thinning occurs on the sides and top of the head in women. It’s known to affect one third of women who are susceptible. However for most women, it occurs after menopause but sometimes it can be experienced as early as during the puberty period. Hair loss is sometimes genetic coming from both sides of the parent’s gene pool.

Among the causes include when you undergo a major operation you tend to lose a lot of hair in the process. It is caused by stress from the illness. Sometimes hair loss in women is caused by hormonal imbalances caused by the thyroid being underactive or vice versa. This kind of hair loss is stopped by having treatment for thyroid complications. Hormonal imbalance also occurs in females when the estrogen hormones are out of balance. When the balance is corrected it stops the hair loss.

Other types of hair loss include telogen affluvium and anagen effluvium. The latter occurs when someone undergoes medications like chemotherapy in cancer patients. Chemotherapy affects the normal growth of hair by poisoning the hair follicle. The other condition Telogen effluvium occurs when a large percentage of hair follicles undergo the resting stage. Other causes of hair loss include anemia, mental illness, birth control pills, weight change, and high amounts of vitamin A.

There are various ways of preventing hair loss in females. Ensure that you regularly have a scalp massage to help in circulating the scalp. There are some natural scalp massage oils you can use. In addition, it also get rids of deposits of dead skin that prevent healthy hair growth. You should not wash your hair with shampoos that have a drying effect on your hair. Go for the shampoos that have clarifying elements and are creamier.

Do not wear your hair up. Avoid pony tails and barrettes that restrict the hair movement.try to keep your hair natural as possible by avoiding straightening, coloring, highlighting, straight ironing, curling, and perms. Dosage: 100 mg twice daily.

Vitamin C
